Lifestyle support makes a growing difference

Waminda’s Lifestyle Support team understand the values and principles required in providing support to people with a disability.

The team focus is all about stimulating the service user’s interest and in implementing support strategies to make a positive life change.

Our programs for people aged 18 to 65 include in-home accommodation support, community integration, post-school support along with Autism information, training and guidance.

The programs are designed to assist clients in maintaining and developing their skills, self-esteem and the ability to live a quality life. They are constantly revised to keep pace with service user’s changing needs.

Service users also participate in TAFE, various volunteer work opportunities within the community, personal development classes, art and craft, cooking and life skills programs, and take regular outings to community events.

Integration an important goal

Community integration remains a vital part of our programs and this is something that clients clearly enjoy.

They are able to access many different community based services, such as the public library, shops, cafes and TAFE.

Volunteers are always welcome and this also enriches clients' day to day activities. We have even had local high school students participating in work experience here - resulting in the same benefits.

A focus on integration helps clients to enhance their skills relevant to the workforce and at the same time, to make a more meaningful contribution to society.
