Thanks to volunteers A lot of the work described on this page depends on the dedication of community volunteers. Without them, we would find the task of fulfilling our vision and mission a great deal more difficult. Many of our volunteers have been 'on the front line' for many years, so we would love to find a new generation of helpers willing to assist fundraising activities such as the catering, biscuit baking and the garage sale. Community fundraising is vital for Waminda!
Garage sale
The Waminda garage sale takes place from 8am – 11.30am Thursday and the third Saturday of the month at 21 Patrick Street, Dalby. All proceeds go toward the operational costs of our training centre. We look for donations of furniture (can be dropped off at number 21) and clothing (use the blue bins at the locations below:)· Coles - Patrick Street · Waminda Services Ltd - 19 Patrick Street Any unsaleable clothes are cut up for rags and sold to local businesses such as mechanics. Biscuits are baked to specific orders once a month. Several ladies come in and spend a good half day in the kitchen. Service users may also lend a hand.We currently sell Jam Drops, Anzac Biscuits, Custard Creams, Coconut Crispies and Choc-Chip baked using industrial equipment to make a high quality product. A number of local businesses organise fundraising events on our behalf - such as golf days and fun runs - with our volunteers organising accompanying BBQs that help to ensure the events are even more financially successful.We also cater for events such as clearing sales thanks to support from local estate agents. |
