Recycling offers a special work environment As explained further on other pages, The Waminda Recycling service is predominately set up as a training ground for people with a disability who are not quite ready for the open employment market, or who are unable to work in open employment. Most of the staff and volunteers are clients of our Adult Support Service and/ or Bridge Employment. There is a Coordinator, a driver, three permanent staff workers and various regular volunteers from our Adult Support Service. |
Our staff members: at the core of Waminda's success
Because working in the disability industry can be very challenging and emotional, few people are suited to maintain ongoing employment in the field. Waminda Services limited is fortunate to have staff that reflect the organisation's values and vision. Our success can only be measured by the outcomes achieved by our clients and this is a direct result of the support and efforts delivered by each and every staff member. ADULT SUPPORT SERVICE - Staff in our adult programs are required to have a minimum qualification of Certificate III in Community Services, Disability. In addition to this, staff bring to Waminda expertise in other fields which ultimately broadens the programs offered to our clients. They include carpentry, teaching, makaton (sign language) and a host of life development skills. CHILDRENS SERVICES - Staff in our children's programs are required to have a qualification in Children's Services, as well as a Certificate in Autistic Services. Some staff have other qualifications which add to our programs. These include a diploma in teaching and a diploma in special education teacher aid support. Like to work for Waminda? Bridge personnel are true specialists
Bridge Employment's performance and success is rated in the top 11 per cent of services, Australia wide. This is a direct reflection of the calibre and dedication of our staff - a Coordinator and four Training & Placement Officers. All are required to have a minimum qualification of Certificate III in Community Services, Disability, and Certificate IV in Workplace Trainer & Assessor. Other specific training includes "Finding a Job - Keeping a Job" plus other workshops and seminars associated with disability support and industrial relations. Staff are not only required to support and train clients in their jobs, but also to support and train employers in the management of employing a person with a disability. Bridge staff need to be versatile and willing and able to adjust to many varied situations. They are highly professional in their attitude and possess a strong team approach in all aspects of service delivery. |
